D.R. Hartman Construction, Inc: About Us
Meet our team

Don & Joyce

Don Hartman - Owner/President

Don gained much experience in all phases of residential home construction by starting out working for several different custom home builders in West Virginia. In 1976, Don moved to the Metro area and gained employment with a commercial contractor. At this job, Don was able to learn all the many aspects of commercial tenant construction. With a well rounded knowledge of both residential and commercial renovation and construction, Don started his own company in July of 1978. With his 30+ years of experience in the home improvement industry, Don has successfully completed an extensive range and variety of projects.

Ray & Megan

Ray Hartman

Don’s oldest son, Ray, has been working alongside his father since he was a young man. He would jump in the truck in the early morning and was always prepared to stay until the job was done or at least until it got too dark to safely swing a hammer.

In June of 2005, Ray married Megan, a Vanderbilt University graduate and school teacher. They moved to California until 2007 for an employment opportunity at an interior custom door company. Upon moving back home, Ray began working for Hartman Builders. Interested in learning all aspects of the business, Ray has quickly become an asset to our company.

Daniel & Jessica

Daniel Hartman

Don’s second son, Daniel, started helping out at the company when he was old enough to do general maintenance duties, such as sweeping the floors and cleaning up the trash at construction sites.

Upon high school graduation in 1998, Daniel gained invaluable experience by traveling the east coast, installing commercial computer work stations.

After traveling and working away for nearly a year and a half, Daniel has returned to work for his father. Like his older brother, he is also interested in all aspects of both the residential and commercial improvement industry.

Derek & Nickie

Derek Hartman

Don’s youngest son, Derek, also began working alongside his father and brothers upon his high school graduation in 2001. He shows a strong work ethic and is a fast learner.

In December of 2006, Derek was married to Nickie and they moved to Frederick, Maryland. Derek also works at the Frederick County Fire Academy, and he will be graduating from their program on May 12, 2007. He will be assigned to the fire station shortly thereafter. When he graduates, he will be a Fire Fighter / EMT.

Derek will be returning part time to his father’s company on his days off.
